Longden Parish Council will have two vacancies for the Hook-a-Gate ward with effect from 6th May due to an insufficient number of candidates standing for election. Applications are invited from residents and others qualifying for election. Further information is available from the Clerk.

The Council will seek to fill these vacancies at the first meeting of the new Council on 14th May, so applications are encouraged before that date. Applications should be in writing and include a brief summary of your experience and reasons for applying. Applicants will have an opportunity to speak to members before the co-option vote takes place.
The role of Parish Councillor is unpaid and usually lasts for four years. The amount of time needed for the role varies but is typically 2-3 hours a week. Councillors are required to attend full council meetings once a month but may also be appointed to committees or working parties according to their interests and the work of the council. Full training will be provided and the Council is supported by a paid officer, the Clerk, who can give advice on any issues that arise.
