The Parish Council meets every first Wednesday in the month, except August. The meetings start at 7:30pm and are usually held in the Parish Hall in Longden. A meeting in August will only be called if there is urgent business to attend to. Members of the public are welcome to attend and speak in the public session held at the beginning of each meeting. Each year, a meeting of the electors of the Parish is arranged between 1 March - 1 June. The Parish Council Chairman will chair the meeting (if present) but it is not a meeting of the parish council so any elector may speak. Elections for all seats will be held in May 2025. The Council is keen to encourage membership from all sections of the community and information about the role can be obtained from the Clerk on request. Longden Parish Council will have two vacancies for the Hook-a-Gate ward with effect from 6th May due to an insufficient number of candidates standing for election. Applications are invited from residents and others qualifying for election. Further information is available from the Clerk.
The nomination period for parish and unitary elections on 1st May has now closed. The persons nominated are shown on the attached files. The parish elections will be uncontested as there are fewer candidates than seats, so all will be elected unopposed. The unitary election will be contested.
On Thursday 27th February we welcomed residents, landowners and businesses to a drop-in event to ask for comments on our draft Site Assessment Criteria. We are aware that not everyone was able to attend so have made the survey available online until 31 March 25.
8th May 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the country will celebrate with bell ringing, beacons and of course a party! Longden Parish Council would like to invite community groups to come forward with ideas to mark the event and can offer a small grant towards the costs.
