You are summoned to attend the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 2nd July 2025 at 7:30pm at Longden Village Hall.

  1. Apologies – To receive apologies and reasons for absence
  2. Declarations of Interest – In accordance with the Council Code of Conduct members shall withdraw from any discussion or vote in which they hold a disclosable pecuniary interest and update their interests’ declaration as appropriate.
  3. Minutes – To approve the draft minutes of the meeting held on 4th June 2025 (Appendix A)
  4. Public Participation – 15 minutes maximum – To allow members of the pubic to speak, at the Chairman’s discretion
  5. Planning –
    • To consider the following planning applications and any validated since the publication of the agenda.
      • 25/01953/FUL: Welbatch Farm, Hook-a-Gate; Proposed cattle underpass – View online by clicking here
    • To note any planning decisions since the publication of the agenda.
  6. Neighbourhood Plan – To receive an update from Cllr P Arnold
  7. Highways – To receive an update on the planned 20mph scheme in Longden village (if available)
  8. Play Areas
    • Annscroft Path – To approve the specification prepared by the working party and consider quotations for the construction of the path. (Specification attached as App B)
    • Play area inspections – To note any repairs or safety issues identified in the play areas
  9. Local Nature Recovery-
    • To receive an update on recruitment of local nature recovery volunteers and ongoing projects by Cllr D Morgan.
    • To consider a proposal that a wide verge in the centre of Longden be managed by volunteers as a wildflower meadow and if approved, to allocate funding for wildflower seeds and species rich green hay, (£250 suggested).
    • To establish a Nature Recovery Working Party to develop a draft nature recovery plan for the parish.
    • To note an invitation to attend a meeting of the proposed Pontesbury, Minsterley and Great Hanwood parish cluster on 11th July and approve attendance by Cllr D Morgan and the Clerk to discuss how Longden might contribute to and benefit from the group. (N.B. The Council has already agreed to join a cluster of parishes but has not decided which group to join. It is recommended that this decision be deferred until the next meeting when a nature recovery plan has been drafted).
  10. Environmental Maintenance – To note the extent of amenity grass cutting carried out by Shropshire Council in Longden village and consider a proposal that the parish council investigates taking responsibility for this grass cutting when the contract is due for renewal. (Maps attached as appendix C)
  11. Christmas Tree – To consider a suggestion that the parish council provides a Christmas tree in Longden village and plans a ‘switch on’ event to support local businesses. (Details of costs, etc to follow).
  12. Defibrillators – To consider relocation of the Longden defibrillator.
  13. Consultation and Correspondence
    • Shropshire Council –– To consider a response to the Scrutiny Committee Chair’s Call for information – closing date for responses 18th August 2025 (Survey form attached as Appendix D)
    • Any other urgent correspondence
  14. Finance –
