Annscroft Play Area Wheel-friendly Path

Annscroft play area is located in Meadowbrook Lane. It has lots of fun equipment accessible for all BUT the path is overgrown and narrow so buggies, wheelchairs and bikes find it difficult to access. Longden Parish Council wants to lay a new path and is seeking community support.

Annscroft Play Area Wheel-friendly path

What we’ll deliver:

  • A smooth path from the gateway up to the MUGA and play area
  • A bench to enable users to rest in the field

Why it’s a great idea:

The poorly surfaced and narrow stone path that leads to the play area from the entrance to the field will be transformed into a new, smooth and safe path where youngsters in prams, buggies or wheelchairs can easily access the play equipment and MUGA. This would make the facility much more appealing to parents and they would then bring their children to use the equipment more frequently. The recently re-developed area has some fully inclusive items that will cater for all abilities and competencies.

Steps to get it done:

  • Marking out for the new path
  • Digging foundations for the path
  • Edging the path
  • Sub lining fixed
  • Stone laying completed
  • Path completed
  • Bench erected

We hope this method of fundraising will engender interest and involvement of residents and they will feel that they have contributed to the facility and take ownership of the project and the resources there.
